Choose your trip in Finland

How to choose your trip to Finland?

The choice of itinerary depends on your duration and season. For a first winter trip centered on Laponia, allow 7 to 9 days, enough time to combine Rovaniemi, a nature-based location around Inari or Saariselkä and a few days dedicated to the Northern Lights. For a more complete overview combining Helsinki, the lake region and Laponia, we recommend stays of 1 to 7 days. Travelers wishing to add the Turku archipelago, Karelia or a detour to the Åland Islands in summer typically opt for 8 to 12 days, allowing time to slow down and fully enjoy the country's unhurried pace.

Different types of trips

Our itineraries vary according to your interests. Cultural trips highlight the architecture of Helsinki and Tampere, Finnish design, Sami traditions in Northern Laponia and local cuisine. Adventure trips focus on hiking in Oulanka or Urho Kekkonen national parks, canoeing on Lake Saimaa, snowmobiling and dog sledding in winter. Family packages alternate peaceful days in lakeside cabins, reindeer farms and gentle activities suited to children, with short stages and comfortable accommodations.

What is the best season?

Finland comes alive in two seasons. Winter, from late January to late March, is peak season for Laponia: stable snow, often clear skies, dry temperatures of -10 to -25°C, frequent Northern Lights. Summer, from mid-June to mid-August, opens up the midnight sun country in the far north and enables hiking, canoeing and lakeside living with temperatures of 17 to 22°C. September brings autumn colors, the ruska, and the first Northern Lights. We advise against November and late April, which are poorly lit and unstable.
